SUMMARY:Medical Aid in Dying: What Medical Students Need to Know
DESCRIPTION:Medical aid in dying (MAiD) has been legal in California since 2016\, yet many clinicians enter practice without a clear picture of how it works at the bedside. Grant Affleck\, a volunteer with End of Life Choices California (EOLCCA)\, will walk medical students through MAiD in practice under California’s End of Life Option Act (EOLOA)\, from the patient’s first request to the day of a planned death. He will also explain how EOLCCA works alongside hospices to support patients and families\, and introduce EOLCCA’s Bereavement Group\, which helps loved ones navigate the grief that can follow medical aid in dying. \nThis is a private event for students of Point Loma Nazarene University. To schedule a presentation for your students\, email Speaker@endoflifechoicesca.org.
