mgreenberg@endoflifechoicesca.org

Mark is a seasoned non-profit professional having spent his entire professional life in the non-profit sector, mostly on the Development side including Board and Leadership Development. He joined EOLCCA in the summer of 2023 as Development Strategist and was named Executive Director in April 2024 following the retirement of EOLCCA’s founding director Judy Neall Epstein.

He moved to San Diego from the Washington, DC area some 35 years ago for law school and initially worked as an attorney representing immigrant clients, including developing a program providing legal support to immigrant domestic violence victims. He moved into fundraising with the Jewish Federation of San Diego, Community Resource Center in Encinitas, and the American Technion Society — the “friends of” organization supporting an engineering university in Israel.

He received a BA in History from the American University in Washington DC. and J.D. from California Western School of Law. He has two daughters in their mid-20s, one local and one in Austin, TX. Depending on the season, he enjoys managing his fantasy baseball or football teams, hiking and birdwatching, and improving his barbecue skills. He lives in San Diego with his partner Julie and her two daughters, one in high school and one in college.

Mark has quickly embraced the importance of choice at the end of one’s life and values the groundwork and progress made by those involved in this important cause.

Amber Valenzuela

Education and Outreach Lead
avalenzuela@endoflifechoicesca.org

Amber brings over a decade of experience building marketing and education programs in the health and wellness sector. Her career has been grounded in the belief that communications, when used thoughtfully, can empower people to make informed decisions about their lives.

Her commitment to education and service sprouted as a Community Development Volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps, where she partnered with local leaders to strengthen outreach efforts and expand access to critical resources.

Her deep interest in death, dying, grief, and late-stage aging then led her to train as an end-of-life doula through the International End of Life Doula Association (INELDA), and to volunteer with Hospice East Bay, the Trauma Intervention Program, and Ashby Village. Through this work, she has supported individuals and families navigating serious illness, crisis, caregiving, and the complexities of later life.

She looks forward to bringing this collective experience to End of Life Choices California, where she’ll work to expand thoughtful, accessible education around end-of-life options for communities across the state.  She is also a certified yoga teacher, herbalist and general nature lover. In her free time, you can find her in her garden learning to grow scrumptious plants for her dinner table.
