Two interactive sessions (10:00-11:30 AM and 3:00-4:30 PM) will be presented by Judy Neall Epstein, ND and Rabbi Suzanne Singer, volunteers from End of Life Choices California. Discussion will include California’s End of Life Option Act which allows the legal use of medical aid in dying for terminal patients. We will also explore the Jewish perspective and the official position of the three major denominations on this issue.

Lynne Calkins, Founding Director of End of Life Choices California (EOLCCA), will provide the latest information on services provided by our organization with the goal to help ensure Californians are able to receive the information and support they need to advocate for and experience the death they wish.  The main focus of this presentation will cover California’s End of Life Option Act (2016), a law that is also referred to as Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD).  The background, overview, and specifics of this law such as who is eligible, the process for obtaining the prescription from your physician, and ingestion guidelines will be outlined.  Time will be available for Q & A.

Castro Valley Library: End of Life Option Act

The January meeting of Savvy Seniors will explore California’s End of Life Option Act (2016), a law that is also referred to as Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD). This presentation will be provided by Adrian Byram, a volunteer with End of Life Choices California, and will explore the background, overview, and specifics of this law to cover who is eligible, the process for obtaining the prescription from your physician, and other relevant aspects.  Voluntary Stopping Eating and Drinking (VSED) will also be discussed, a legal option in all 50 states. Time will be available for Q & A.

End of Life Options Act: In-Service Virtual Presentation for Staff — Private meeting

Susan Gess, PharmD, a volunteer with and member of the Advisory Council for End of Life Choices California (EOLCCA), will introduce our organization and the free services of personal support and education provided through a dedicated team of volunteers.  Her presentation will highlight the End of Life Options Act (2016), also known as Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD).
The background, overview, and specifics of this law such as who is eligible, the process for obtaining the prescription from the patient’s physician, and ingestion guidelines will be outlined.
