Vallejo Public Library: End of Life Options with Emphasis on California’s End of Life Option Act

Vallejo Public Library: In-person event open to the public.

Speaker Carolyn Smith will discuss the legal end of life options in California,such as discontinuing or declining medical treatments, hospice and palliative care, and voluntarily stopping eating and drinking (VSED).  In addition, she will discuss the value of advance health care planning. California’s End of Life Option Act, a law that is also referred to as Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD) will be covered in more detail.  This discussion includes eligibility, recent changes to the law, the steps needed to request the MAID prescription from a physician, estimated costs, and ingestion guidelines.
